THE COURSE AND THE MAP
There are 100 checkpoints out in the competition terrain. Total sum of scores is 575 points. Three digit numbers are used for checkpoints. The first digit shows score of checkpoint (it varies from 2 to 9). The shortest line (by air) connecting all checkpoints will lead to 130 km of distance. Penalty score for finishing after the nominated finish time is 1 point for each started minute after the nominated finish time. Teams, finished half-an-hour after nominated finish time, will be considered "LATE".
Some control descriptions contain “clearcutting”, what is described sometimes also as “clearing”. There might be some unmapped clearings of recent years and some new clearings made after map was sent to printhouse. If active harvesting area noticed - do not enter it due to safety reasons!
Electric fences are not mapped. There exist also pastures fenced by barbed wire. Such fences may exist also nearby abandoned messuages and ruins. It is allowed to exit meadows or pastures if there is electric fence at your exit point. It is allowed to enter meadows or pastures with electric fence only in cases if it is not marked as out of bounds area. Don’t disturb livestock met on the course!
Some single-standing buildings, hunters’ towers and ruins are not mapped.
Water level in pounds, ditches and swamps and their passability correspond to the map legends used. Some small and local water features are not mapped.
Landowners and local people are informed about the event and are asked to hold their dogs leashed and controlled during the competition. Anyway - there might be dogs on roads near houses and farmsteads. In case of meeting such - don’t run and pass them by slowly walking.
Olive green, pink-violet crossed areas and unharvested cultivated land is out of bounds areas!
PUNCHING AND CHECKPOINTS
Control markers are well visible from most directions and are normally located about 1.5 meters above the ground. Nevertheless, depending on the control feature, the markers may not be equally visible from all possible directions. Control markers have reflectors. A sample control equipment (control marker with the SI station) is at the event center.
If no punch signal received on your SI card (there is no light/sound signal) within 30cm distance from SI station, team shall try direct punching into SI station. If this fails (no light/sound feedback) or SI station is missing, team shall use alternative method of registering at the checkpoint by using needle punch (“crocodile”) attached to the checkpoint and emergency punching checkboxes on map.
There will be IN and OUT SI stations placed near the hash-house, but punching to them is not mandatory. Punching to these stations will provide splits of HH visit for those using them. SI stations at the hash-house will operate in direct punching mode only.
PLEASE NOTE! Missing checkpoint or SI station is not a reason for unsealing bag with prohibited devices! If you have a chance to meet judges on course or visit a water drop point, where a message board and a pen is available, you can leave a message about such problems.
WATER STATIONS ON TERAIN, AT START AND FINISH
There are 7 water drops (WD) and 2 water sources (wells) (WS) stations mapped on the competition terrain.
Water stations are placed on obvious navigational features (track junctions and crossings) and are described on the control description sheet. Precise location is mapped with bold pink dot. Water is served in 5l volume plastic containers in water stations. There will be paper sheet and a pen, where competitors may leave important messages for organizers (dangers, out-of-order SI stations, etc.). There are no mugs at water stations. Take your own!
There will be no water available in start zone. There will be water available right after the finish, next to SI readout.
There will be our sponsor’s ISOSTAR sports drink for High Carb Drink Salted Tomato & Basil available in WD3.
